Quito, the capital of Ecuador is a city that has evolved around the original center founded by the Spanish in 1534. This historic area declared by the UNESCO as Mankind's Cultural Patrimony, preserves its traditions and customs as well as its churches, monuments and museums. The Pichincha volcano dominates Quito's landscape in a spectacular scenic wonder that has inspired our artist in portraying this unique city. Quito by nights is a glittering modern town that beats at the pulse of its many excellent restaurants, bars, discos and "peņas", where one can enjoy the best folkloric music. At 20 minutes from Quito is the marker or the imaginary line that divides the earth into two equal hemispheres, The Middle of the World or The Equator Line. Here a monument was built in order to commemorate the scientific visit of the Geodesic French Spanish Mission, which occurred in the 18th century.
