RAFTING

QUIJOS WHITE-WATER ADVENTURE (3 Days)

This is one of the most suitable rafting adventure programs for the beginner.

Day 1. - We'll depart Quito early, following the rising sun across the eastern range of the Andes to the town of Papallacta, where we'll stop to enjoy a dip in the local thermal springs. From here we descend dramatically down into the Amazon Basin to our base camp deep in the heart of this cloud forest. After lunch an a briefing by our expert instructors on rafting safety and techniques, our three hour white water adventure will begin. We'll start on the El Salado River and navigate class II & III rapids as the river flows into the Quijos. At the end of this run, we'll change into dry clothing and return to Camp 1 where a hot dinner awaits us.

Day 2. - Breakfast. Today we'll drive to Santa Rosa, to put in for the day's 6-hr. white water. We'll experience more rapids on this section, passing frequently through class III. Along the way we will enjoy views of the wild, seldom explored eastern slopes of the Andes, which are covered with thick vegetation and are home to hundreds of bird species. Lunch will be enjoyed on the river's banks and at the end of the run; we'll have a snack and change into dry clothing before the return drive back up to Quito in the evening. Overnight in Quito.

Day 3. - Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take the international flight or extension program.
